Fort Lee
Gateway to the George Washington Bridge
Neighborhood Overview
Fort Lee sits at the western foot of the George Washington Bridge, making it one of the most strategically located towns in all of Northern New Jersey. The borough stretches along the top of the Palisades, with high-rise condominiums offering jaw-dropping views of the Hudson River and Manhattan skyline, while quieter residential neighborhoods spread inland with single-family homes and tree-lined streets.
The community is wonderfully diverse, with significant Korean, Jewish, Italian, and Russian populations that contribute to a rich cultural fabric. The downtown area along Main Street and Anderson Avenue has seen steady revitalization, with new restaurants, cafés, and shops opening regularly. Fort Lee Historic Park offers a fascinating glimpse into Revolutionary War history, right where Washington's troops retreated across the Palisades in 1776.
For families, Fort Lee offers a mix of public and private school options, along with numerous parks and recreation programs. The proximity to NYC without actually being in the city makes it a perennial favorite for commuters who want space, views, and community.
